Here’s a helpful website I thought you might be interested in. It’s called the National Center for Biblical Parenting. There are lots of resources on the website, and you can easily register to recieve their weekly emails. I have been receiving them for a few months now and find them full of wisdom and encouragement. Parenting IS “heart work” and we need all the encouragement and support that we can get. Here’s just one more resource that you can take advantage of.
“What happens at Open House?”
That’s the question I got from a couple of Middle School students yesterday. It’s a good question. So, let me give a brief explanation of Fall Open House at CHCS.
First, the purpose: To strengthen our community by giving parents an opportunity to visit with teachers and other parents and to allow students an opportunity to share with thier families what they’ve been up to for these past 2 months.
So, we gather in the Chapel for a little introduction and information. We will also have 2 adorable presentations by the 1st and 2nd grade classes. Then we will dismiss to visit classrooms. We encourage everyone to visit every classroom. To motivate you to do so, we have designed a little game, which we will tell you about on Thursday night. When you are done visiting the classrooms, please stop by the refreshment tables where the 3rd and 4th graders will be serving punch and cookies.
That’s it! Casual, comfortable, and easy, yet very beneficial for the school and for each child. Hope to see you all there!

Hi Parents! Don’t forget to turn in your child’s permission slip for participation in our annual Math-a-thon. We’re going for 100% participation this year. A $5 sponsorship is all that is needed to participate, but students can get more if they want! Students wil complete their Math-a-thon booklets together. All money raised goes to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Today students were given their Math-a-thon envelopes and parent permission slips. Math-a-thon is really easy (not to mention educationl) for students to participate in, and it’s a great way for them to become more aware of and help kids who are struggling with life threatening diseases. All of the money raised through our Math-a-thon will go directly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
To participate, all students need to do is get their parent permission slip signed, obtain at least $5 in sponsorships, and work as many fun math activities as they can in the official Math-a-thon booklet. Students, of course, may obtain more than the $5 minimum, and there are some great prizes to reward them if they do.
We’re counting on 100% participation, so let’s get those permission slips in.
Remember, no school on Friday, October 10th or Monday, October 13th. Have a great weekend! See you on Tuesday!
