Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic, and Real-life!

You know, great education is more than reading, writing, and arithmetic.  It’s about learning to live real life, to achieve great things and to excel in God-directed undertakings.

christmas cardLast week Mrs. Bangs told us about a 5 year old boy in Michigan who was living the final days of his life due to cancer.  One of his dearest wishes was that he would receive lots of Christmas cards this year.  So at CHCS the teachers gave each student the opportunity to make a card for Noah which will be sent to him this weekend.  But one of our students, Meagan, picked up the baton and ran a bit further with it.  She went home and contacted the Post Office to find out how large of a letter she would be able to mail across the country.  After getting the information, she created a HUGE Christmas card for Noah, and then brought the signature page to school so that each student from College Heights could sign it.  She will be mailing it separately, with her own money, on her own time!

Thanks, Mrs. Bangs, for alerting us to this opportunity to express love to a sick little boy.  Thanks, students and teachers, for responding to the call!  And, WAY TO GO, Meagan, for taking our efforts to the next level!  (Raising a Generation to do Greater Things!)  It’s exciting to be a part of a school that not only excels academically, but seizes opportunities to express the character of our Loving Father to a needy world.  God Bless You, little Noah.  We are praying for you and your family!

This is what real Christianity is all about!  As 1 Peter 1:22 says, “love one another deeply, from the heart”!

Eating With Eagles

deltacodebbyDel Taco Night was great!  Not only did we make $200, but it was wonderful just hanging out together!  It was like a party that we didn’t have to clean up after!

Our next Eating with Eagles will be at the Carl’s Jr. on Victoria in Ventura on Nov. 12th.  The event lasts all day and we make 20%.  We will be sending home fliers for you to use and plenty of extras available in the office to pass out to everyone you know!  Don’t forget to purchase Carl’s Jr. SCRIP for double benefits.

Visual Arts

art class2Mrs. Cooper has had our students busy with some fantastic visual art projects.  If you get a chance to stop by the courtyard you will find mosaics of all sorts, prayer flags, and colorful  hand prints on the pillars!  Now it’s time to turn our attention to the performing arts as we prepare for the Christmas program.
